Ransom County Historical Society

The Fort Ransom area has many burial mounds and is located the ancient North American game trail, that crosses the continent from southeast to northwest. Not much is known about these ancient cultures that once lived here, and there is speculation about Vikings having a ship repair site near Fort Ransom 1000 years ago. Viking Information Recent archelogical finds along the Columbia River in Washington State and Spirit Cave in Nevada, discovered Caucasiods, named the Kennewick Man, dated around 9,000 years ago.
